The biggest knock against Explosions In The Sky is that all their music sounds the same, and there is a certain amount of truth to that. You could put all their tracks together in one continuous loop and it would feel like a massive extended mix of Your Hand In Mine, but since I hardly ever listen to albums from beginning to end anymore, I can't fault them too much for always sounding the same. At least that means they always sound good.

Like many people, I first heard of this band thanks to the movie Friday Night Lights. It was a fairly forgettable football movie with a highly unusual soundtrack that had far more emotional resonance than the movie itself. The band that was featured on the soundtrack was Explosions In The Sky, and apparently their music is also featured in the television version of Friday Night Lights.
