I made a very careless mistake when setting up today's show, and that caused several hours of dead air, so I apologize to whoever was listening at that time. Certain aspects of broadcasting internet radio are very technical and complicated, and yet I managed to overlook one of the most basic things. DRR went silent at around 1pm, and I just got home and set things back up for the rest of the night, in case anybody's still wanting to listen. The good news is, once I'm broadcasting 24/7, this type of mistake won't be an issue since I won't be stopping and starting the broadcast like I am now.
Since I'm posting something, I may as well mention that I'm currently attending the self-employment program I mentioned a while back (yay!) and it's incredibly intensive (boo!) so sleep deprivation was no doubt a factor in today's meltdown. I'm not making excuses, I'm just saying bear with me over the next few months, because I'm really focused on how I can apply what I'm learning to make Dynamic Range Radio a successful small business instead of a hobby that I pour countless hours and lots of money into for no reward. I admire all the internet radio hobbyists out there, but, frankly, I need to eat and keep a roof over my head, and after getting laid off last fall, I decided that now was the time to see if I could use DRR to generate some income. I know I'll never get rich doing this, but if I can earn a comfortable living from it, I'd be a very happy camper indeed.
